Our Price: $3.50

Tempting treasures in an attractive package. 3 oz. (85g)

Candela Peru works with 273 Brazil nut gatherers (castañeros) and their families who live along the Madre de Dios River in the Peruvian rainforest. Candela’s Brazil nuts are harvested from trees that grow naturally in the rainforest and reach heights of over 150 feet. The nut gatherers’ livelihood depends on the sound management of forest resources, and they are working closely with the staff of Candela to improve the quality of their organic product. Purchases of Candela’s Brazil nuts and Brazil nut oil provide an income to the nut harvesters and their families and promote sustainable use of the Peruvian rainforest.
Organic Brazil Nuts
Our Price: $5.50

Dry roasted, organic Brazil nuts.  Peru.
Organic Dried Sweetened Cranberries
Our Price: $6.00

Whole, juicy organic berries are sliced, infused with organic sugar, and then slowly kiln-dried to preserve every last bit of flavor. The cranberries’ tartness is offset but not overpowered by sweetness. High in antioxidants, cranberries are also known for their anti-bacterial properties. Delicious by themselves, dried cranberries are also a great alternative to raisins in cookies and many other recipes, or added to a salad. Our very first cranberries were grown with care by the Mann family on their small farm in southeastern Massachusetts.
Roasted Salted Pecans
Our Price: $6.50

Plump pecans are perfectly roasted and salted to bring out their full flavor characteristics. Pecans are high in antioxidants, and provide desirable monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats in addition to rich flavor. Tasty right out of the bag, or try sprinkling them on a salad. A blend of Stewart, Schley, and Van Deman varieties from the members of Southern Alternatives Agricultural Co-operative in southwest Georgia.
Organic Tamari Roasted Almonds
Our Price: $6.90

Carefully selected organic Carmel variety almonds, dry roasted for extra crunch. Their distinctive taste is given depth by a sprinkling of savory tamari soy sauce. Almonds are packed with nutrients including magnesium and protein, and are an excellent source of desirable monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Perfect for the health-conscious snack lover, these almonds come from the small organic farmers of Big Tree Organic Farms Co-op in central California.

what is fair trade?

Fair trade is a just, economically and environmentally sound global cooperative between artisans, traders, farmers, buyers, and consumers. By selling directly to buyers in North America, producers in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other developing countries receive a reasonable living wage for their goods instead of a low, undeserving price.

Workers and their families not only benefit, but the profits are often reinvested in the community to improve health and education. Communities learn the advantage of grassroots development and environmental sustainability. Fair trade builds relationships and encourages gender equality among the producers; the products preserve traditions and cultures. This partnership eliminates government intervention and inflated consumer costs.

Fair Trade Winds provides an outlet for consumers to buy these handicrafts and unique products from a diverse group of artisans. We promote businesses and farming practices that are environmentally sustainable.
