Impact
The Leakey Collection has a tremendous impact on the Maasai women they work with in Kenya. Traditionally, Maasai women do not work, but after a devastating drought causing the men to be farther away with their cattle The Leakey Collection started the zulugrass project where the women create jewelry from dyed grass beads. Today the Maasai women are able to pay for food, education fees, medical expenses and even buy their own goat herd or start their own business.
