Thanks to the juicy sweet pineapple and oranges and the dried black currant, cranberry, blueberry, elderberry fruit in the Little Berry Hibiscus Tea, this sangria recipe doesn’t need any added sugar to be delicious, unlike traditional sangria recipes. We found La Riojana Fair Trade wine at our grocery store, made in the Famatina Valley in Argentina. La Riojana is the world’s largest producer of certified fair trade organic wine and Argentina’s first fair trade winery, certified in February 2006.
La Riojana has been able to invest over 30 different healthcare, educational, social and community projects, not just benefiting their own worker-members and workers but also the surrounding community.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle fair trade red wine (we used Malbec)
- 3 cups Little Berry Hibiscus Tea
- fair trade strawberries
- fair trade pineapple
- organic oranges
- organic pear
Directions
Cut up the fruit in large chunks; quarter the oranges. Place all fruit in a large bowl or container and pour wine over top. Stir and let sit in the refrigerator for a few hours, or overnight.
Brew 3 teaspoons of Little Berry Hibiscus Tea with 3 cups of boiling water for about 10 minutes. Refrigerate the tea to cool it down.
When everything has been chilled, mix the tea and wine/fruit mixture together. Pour in glasses, garnish with pineapple, and you’re fiesta-ready!
